Milfoil Locations on Balch

2007 Treatment

Nick Stadtfeld, Steve Desisto and Lee Wilson met with the Chemical Company at the Marina on June 12, 2007. A Rep from the FDA was also there, checking if everything was done properly, i.e. proper clothes, proper safety protection, proper chemical, etc.

We went ahead of the treatment boat and helped out the people who were posting the signs letting everyone know that treatment took place today. Foye Cove was the first treated area, Variable Milfoil was heavy!

Loon Cove was done, then the area by the Floating Islands, from there the most southern part of Stump Pond including the cove and around to the Jennifer Lane area. This area was VERY HEAVY with variable milfoil!!

The entrance to the river up to close to Chicks Dam was next, this area had much less milfoil than previous years. The small pond across from the Fire station was then treated and the area from Chick's Dam to the broken dam was treated. This area looked pretty clean.

We then went down Rt 153 to the campground and another boat was launched and all of Woodman was treated. Variable Milfoil was rampant pretty much throughout Woodman Pond. It seemed much worse than last year but maybe that was because the water was down compared to last year.

The below map will be updated shortly with a visual picture of the treatments. Check back soon.
