Russell Road was closed in late September while the culvert over the meadows was rebuilt. Jon Morrill was the subcontrator and he successfully completed the work in seven days. The two old sheet metal drainage pipes were replaced with two larger composite pipes and a third pipe was added for emergency overflows. Also, the existing guard rails were restored which saved on metal costs. Finally, the bridge is now an additional four feet wider. The site was inspected, approved and reopened on October 3rd.

Hi, this is Lee Willson giving everyone an update on our fight against Variable Milfoil (please forward this update to all your Association member's).
Last June 21st we had 4 areas(16 acres) of Balch Lake on the New Hampshire side treated with the stronger chemical 2-4,D. Each of the 16 acres received 100 lbs of chemical at a total cost of $$9735.00. Our approved permit allowed us, if needed, an additional treatment in early Sept (at a cost of $7000) .
This morning Nick and I surveyed the 4 areas and were very pleasently surprised that all the areas are 99% cleared of variable milfoil!!!!! It was wonderful to hear a number of the abutters yell out "Great job" with a thumbs up!!!! The two areas over at Waldon and Jennifer Lane (where you could nearly walk on this stuff!!) looked fantastic!!!
Needless to say that we won't need to shell out the 7 grand for the additional treatment!!! we can certainly use this money for more diving time on our DASH Boat.........and speaking of our DASH Boat, thank goodness for Dennis Racine and Nick for finding the small leak on one of the hose's and fixing it.... and thanks to these two guys the Boats now running great!!!! Dennis had been a blessing throughout this whole process and we can't thank him enough!!
The Diver's are "sucking up between 300 and 400 lbs of variable milfoil on nearly every dive!!!!! If your on the lake and see the boat please give these guys a "Thumbs up!!!!" or a friendly "Toot"! Your support means so much!!!!
On another subject, please be reminded that the drawdown date is still right after the Labor Day weekend.
